Summer Lifestyle Challenge 2016!!!

On-stage at Prince Tribute MMH
Here we are...Summer 2016! Time for another challenge!

For those new to the challenges, it isn't to compete against others. It's to push yourself to greater heights, have some company & inspiration along the way, and a few ideas the help get us focused. For example, you can use this waving of the analytical knife to help organize your goals:

1) Exercise - Set a specific plan or goal(s). Keep us posted weekly (or more) on your progress!

2) Creativity - Music, art, writing, acting...set a goal to complete by month's end. Keep us posted!

3) Personal life - Re-affirm your personal relationships, get to that project/chore you've been avoiding, or just read a book you've always wanted to read!

4) Professional life - Set a work goal or change jobs or....just tell us what it is and keep us posted!

I'll post my goals below, and then provide weekly up-dates...

How about YOU?

Politics: Do Not Read

No serieously, do not read this. Because my politics are, given the  odds, not your politics. And in today's political and social climate, that means you'll hate my guts in just a moment. Because there is no way we can disagree without hating each other - right?

So, here's my thought on the duopoly. What's "duopoly"? Sure:

1) a situation in which two suppliers dominate the market for a commodity or service.

2) in politics, the 2 party system (democrats and republicans).

And, of course, we're talking politics. American politics. Because we've been electing the "lesser of two evils" for decades.

So, with regard to the notion of "left" and "right"......

The left calls the right stupid, and only sees their viewpoint. The right calls the left stupid and only sees theirs.

But there is no right wing and there is no left wing. Our current cycle proves that.

The so-called "right" is a mix of social/fiscal conservatives (the vast minority of republicans) and those who are not at all fiscally conservative, only socially (the vast majority).

The so-called "left" is a mix of social/fiscal liberals who value the democratic process (the vast minority) and those who are not really socially liberal, but talk a good game (the vast majority).

Both sides are authoritarian and use highfalutin and/or vitriolic language & fancy philosophy to mask their fear. Fear of both myriad of groups (from minorities to corporations) and their fear & distrust of the individual to handle life's adversities without Almighty Governmnet.

Soooo...there's that.

Told you you'd hate me.

Prince and the Purple Hole in Our Hearts

Yes, I am totally bummed about Prince. Bummed in a way that I usually escape when a musician dies. But he was a huge influence on my development (in multiple areas),

I talk about him, and our cultural icons, here:
