Happy 60

How on earth did I neglect, WAY BACK in October of '24, to do my birthday post???

OK, I usually start these off with a quote, so here we go:

Another frenzied dance around the sun, making music, playing with my kids, teaching guitar and bass and ukulele and percussion and songwriting and improv and more, hitting the gym, recording in studios and playing on stages, hosting open mics and recitals, doing radio & TV....a massive FREE summer session of guitar for all the kids due to school budget cuts (we served 100 kids and gave away 50+ guitars).....and our 10th anniversary for Lexi Music Awards (which turned out to be our final year at the Lyric Theatre, as we switched in 2025 to the Singletary Center for the Arts on UK's campus)!

My birthday landed on a Wednesday, so the celebration started several weekends before 1) by turning my First Friday gig at Goodwood into a major party, AND 2) turning our Second Sunday Open Mic into a Birthday Jam (with Chris on drums and Greg on bass, as we usually do!), and had a HUGE turnout both days!

The following weekend was a private gig on Saturday the 19th, attended the Woodsongs Gathering on Sunday the 20th, which led to my actual birthday on Wednesday the 23rd.

Per usual, the day started by getting the kids to school, then hitting the gym for an intense workout that included 60 minutes cardio and another 45 minutes resistance training (mix of weights and body weight such as pull-ups and dips), then home for a steak, a shower, and then was honored to teach my Wednesday students! After, I was happy to meet a special friend for some dancing and drinks!

The following Sunday was the SDML guitar student recital (also a smashing success), which capped things off nicely!

Also blessed to receive hundreds upon hundreds of birthday wishes via text, email, snail mail, social media, phone calls, & the like...and as I do each year, I took my annual ODIS (Old Dudes In Shape) pictures as a challenge to my buddies who also post ODIS pics. Good accountability and keeps us all motivated and disciplined! I'm less shredded than the past few years, but that was intentional, so all is well, haha!
